This page features special events, gathering, festivals and one-day fund-raising rides / tours.  We don't always get updated information on each program every year, but most happen annual so check their websites the latest information.  For multi-day fund-raising rides / tours and cultural / educational bike programs see the tours page.  Addition programs are listed on the conferences / seminars page.

Listing of an event does not constitute an endorsement by the International Bicycle Fund. If you would like your event posted, send us information.  It will generally get posted fastest if it is a format and length similar to the entries on this page.

Amish Country Bike Tour and Race  Saturday, September 10, 2011 -- Dover, Delaware, 15, 25, 50, 62 and 100 mile loops plus 25 mile timed race through Amish Country; 4 excellent food/rest stops with Amish-baked pies and cookies plus healthy foods and beverages. After tour party featuring live folk bands and catered picnic lunch, yard games, bike rodeo for kids and more. Friday night kayak tour and lodging packages starting at $55 per night. Angkor Wat Bike Race and Rally  Bicycle through the ancient Angkor temple complex in Cambodia and join Village Focus international to support child protection and landmine victims, December 3, 2011.

Best Buddies Challenge  Rides California, Massachusetts and Washington DC, to support Best Buddies and their mission to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities.

Bicycle Music Festivals are a magical convergence of bicycle, local music, clean energy, organic food, good people, and fun. BMFs have occurred at least in Chico, San Francisco, Ashland, Eugene, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Burning Man, Yosemite, South Yuba and Mexico.  Upcoming events as we know them.

Bike Summer A celebration focused on bicycling with a wide variety of activities and programs.  It moves from city to city every year.  The first Bike Summer was in San Francisco in 1999. 

Checker's Mutt Strut and Charity Bike Ride - April 16, 2011 at the Martinsville Virginia Speedway. Proceeds benefit the Martinsville-Henry County SPCA's low cost spay/neuter program as well as providing medical care for animals in the SPCA's care. Tel: 276-638-7297.

Discover Hartford Bicycling and Walking Tour   Saturday, October 22th, 2011. Join thousands of people in motion, discovering all that is good and positive about Connecticut's capital city. You'll see things that the locals don't even know about. 25-mile and 10-mile bicycling options and a 2 hour walking tour.

MicroBike
This event, organized by ACCION, is an annual event open to participants from around the world (on October 1-2, 2011). MicroBike participants design their own cycling routes, raise money and awareness for microfinance and ride in solidarity with other activists! ACCION International is a private, nonprofit organization with the mission of giving people the financial tools they need – microloans, business training and other financial services – to work their way out of poverty. ACCION issued its first microloan in 1973 in Brazil. Today, ACCION’s partner microfinance institutions serve more than 3.7 million poor entrepreneurs per year in 23 countries in Latin America, Asia, Africa and the United States.

Panther Cycling - April 17, June 5 and  June 6, 2010.  Bicycle rides and races to build community and raise money for the charities in and around Montfort, Wisconsin.

QuadruPedal Spring Century! The Iowa County Humane Society's bike tour is Sunday, May 6, 2012, Dodgeville, Wisconsin.  This tour showcases the beautiful rolling hills of southwest Wisconsin and benefits the cats and dogs. Ride options include challenging routes of 35, 55, 85 and 100 miles for the cycling enthusiast. Rest stops on each route include great snacks, sports drinks and wonderful hosts. Ride for Hope, Saturday, June 11th, 2011, in Tallahassee, Florida, to benefit the Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare Cancer Center. A century, metric century, 40 mile and 5 mile family fun ride options are available.  Pasta dinner packet pick up & vendor expo will be held on Friday, June 5th.  For more information and to register visit: www.ride4hope.net.

Ride for Recovery.  A family fun & fitness event & fundraiser for Dawn Farm, 6633 Stony Creek Road, Ypsilanti, Michigan, 48197. There will be 5k, 10k, 10 mi, 25 mi, 45 mi and 100 k bike rides; 5K and 10K runs/walks, and a “fun walk.” Registration includes "Fun Day at the Farm" for participants and their families, with hot food, hayrides, tours of the working farm, kid's activities in the Dawn Farm Community Barn, and more! The Ride for Recovery also provides an opportunity to support a critical community service. Ride of Silence Annual slow and silent memorial bike ride, in hundreds of cities worldwide, in May, to honor bicyclists who have been killed and injured and a reminder of cyclists' legal right to the road.  Check the website to see if there is ride near you.

Rodman Ride for Kids, Saturday, September 29, 2012. This charity event is a 25, 50, and 100-mile non-competitive cycling tour throughout the state of Massachusetts. (Maps of each route can be viewed at on the website.) In addition to the scenic ride, bikers are invited to enjoy a finish-line barbecue, vendor sampling, and other activities.  The Rodman Ride for Kids is a gift-matching charity working to support at-risk youth in Massachusetts. By joining Team BMC, cyclists will be helping to raise money for at-risk children and pediatric programs at the hospital. Every dollar raised directly supports the cause, and is matched by 10% by Rodman Ride. Scenic Catskills Ride N Peak  On May 16, 2009, come rain or shine, Margaretville, New York will play host to hundreds of biking enthusiasts. Six routes ranging from 14 miles to 104 miles will take you through the beautiful river valleys of the central Catskills. Ride benefits the Catskill Area Hospice. The village green will host bike education events, workshops, food vendors and end the day with music.

Strawberry Fields Forever Strawberry Fields Forever takes place in May. It features three routes 25 miles, 100 kilometers and 100 miles, which traverse some of the most beautiful regions of Santa Cruz County, California. Each route includes rest stops with international themes, food, fruits, and beverages every 20-30 miles. A hot meal will greet you at the end of the ride. Fresh whipped cream and strawberries dipped in chocolate ganache conclude the menu. Strawberry Fields Forever benefits Cyclists for Cultural Exchange (CCE), an organization, promoting people - to - people diplomacy among international bicyclists. Tour de Kingston / Ulster are slated to be held on June 27, 2010, Sunday, at Deitz Stadium/ Forsyth Nature Center Kingston, New York

The Tour de Kingston is a FREE 5 mile ride through historic Kingston. There will be stops at the Fireman's Museum and The Senate House (FREE ADMISSION to both). Following ride FREE Cookoput (by Bike Brothers) at Nature Center (FREE ADMISSION). Dontations accepted in name of Kingston Hospital Foundation, 20 Delta Place Kingston NY 12401 or on site. Funds used to promote bicycling and provide bikes to working or school or families for recreation needs.

Tour de Ulster is a 12, 25, 35 or 50 mile ride. FREE cookout following Donations suggested. Flyer and registration available at http://www.tobaccofreeactioncoalition.org/.

Tour de Leaves Third weekend of October in Western North Carolina,  nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The views are fantastic and we will have plenty of rest stops available. Rest stops are well stocked and some have bathrooms. Routes feature Tour de Leaves (66.3 miles) and Tour de Leaves Lite (31.9 miles) with plenty of climbing, plus an easy, relaxing Tour de Leaves Family Ride (4 miles). Lunch and showers available after the ride.

Tour de Vour Sunday, August 14, 2011, benefits Big Brothers Big Sisters of Racine & Kenosha Counties. Begins and ends at UW-Parkside. Rides are Family Fun, 15m, 36m and 100k. Features food, food and more food.  Online details and registration at www.bikingforkids.org

Tyranena Oktoberfest Bike Ride, Saturday October 1, 2011, Lake Mills, Wisconsin.  Charity fun ride with 18, 26, 46 & 66-mile routes passing through beautiful Jefferson County, beginning and ending at Tyranena Brewing Company. Wisconsin Dairyland Dare, August 13, 2011, Dodgeville, Wisconsin. Set in the bucolic hills of Southwest Wisconsin, the Dairyland Dare offers a memorable day of challenging climbs, fantastic foods, superior support, and scenic splendor for cyclists ranging from the avid enthusiast to the world class athlete. The hills in the area are not huge, but by the end of the day some riders will have climbed over 20,000 ft - the equivalent of Mt. McKinley. Distances: 50K, 100K, 150K, 200K, 250K, 300K. The International Bicycle Fund is an independent, non-profit organization. Its primary purpose is to promote bicycle transportation.
