This page features special events, gathering, festivals and one-day fund-raising rides / tours. We don't always get updated information on each program every year, but most happen annual so check their websites the latest information. For multi-day fund-raising rides / tours and cultural / educational bike programs see the tours page. Addition programs are listed on the conferences / seminars page. Listing of an event does not constitute an endorsement by the International Bicycle Fund. If you would like your event posted, send us information. It will generally get posted fastest if it is a format and length similar to the entries on this page. Bike Summer A celebration focused on bicycling with a wide variety of activities and programs. It moves from city to city every year. The first Bike Summer was in San Francisco in 1999. Clinch Mountain Century Fundraiser bike ride for the Four Seasons Wellness Center being built in Tazewell, Virginia, September 22, 2007. Discover Hartford Bicycling and Walking Tour Saturday, September 8th, 2007. Join thousands of people in motion, discovering all that is good and positive about Connecticut's capital city. You'll see things that the locals don't even know about. 25-mile and 10-mile bicycling options and a 2 hour walking tour. Let Us Ride Annual Let Us Ride 100-62-50-20 & 10 mile rides (August) through beautiful Monterey County and Salinas Valley, CA International Friendship Ride for the Nations Saturday, July 14, 2007. The ride benefits International Friendships, a registered Ohio State University student organization and Christian community group seeking to promote friendship and hospitality for international students. Pedal Fest A one-day leisure bike ride (50k or 100k), at the end of August, through the scenic Kansas countryside around Wichita, sponsored by Heartspring, benefiting children with special needs to grow and learn on a path to a more independent life. Come for a day or a week of great bicycle riding in the Prairie City area, famous among veteran cyclists. Choose from a variety of mapped and characterized rides ranging in type, class, and distance. You’ll experience spectacular scenery, traffic free roadways, un-crowded backcountry trails, abundant wildlife, and scenic wilderness. Ride of Silence Annual slow and silent memorial bike ride, in hundreds of cities worldwide, in May, to honor bicyclists who have been killed and injured and a reminder of cyclists' legal right to the road. Check the website to see if there is ride near you. QuadruPedal Century! The Iowa County Humane Society bike tour is May 4th, 2008. Come and challenge yourself to a 35, 55, 86, or 100 mile ride through the rolling hills of Iowa County. This ride starts and ends at the Dodgeville Middle School. $45 if registered before April 11. Santa Barbara MS Bike Tour & Fest October 15th, 2005. 12, 30, 60, and 100 mile bike routes, starting from Leadbetter Beach, Santa Barbara. Strawberry Fields Forever Strawberry Fields Forever takes place in May. It features three routes 25 miles, 100 kilometers and 100 miles, which traverse some of the most beautiful regions of Santa Cruz County. Each route includes rest stops with international themes, food, fruits, and beverages every 20-30 miles. A hot meal will greet you at the end of the ride. Fresh whipped cream and strawberries dipped in chocolate ganache conclude the menu. Strawberry Fields Forever benefits Cyclists for Cultural Exchange (CCE), an organization, promoting people - to - people diplomacy among international bicyclists. Volvo Best Buddies Challenge: Hyannis Port Join Tedy Bruschi and bicycle 90 or 20 miles from the Kennedy Library in Boston to Hyannis Port, on May 19, 2007, in support of Best Buddies and their mission to enhance the lives of people with intellectual disabilities. Afterwards enjoy a gourmet clambake and intimate, private concert by Grammy-winner Rick Springfield at this fun, family event for all. The International Bicycle Fund is an independent, non-profit organization. Its primary purpose is to promote bicycle transportation. Most IBF projects and activities fall into one of four categories: planning and engineering, safety education, economic development assistance and promoting international understanding. IBF's objective is to create a sustainable, people-friendly environment by creating opportunities of the highest practicable quality for bicycle transportation. IBF is funded by private donation. Contributions are always welcome and are U.S. tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
