Guyana Cultural Tour: Parika

  Wakapoa to Charity (1.5 hrs by boat) to Supenaam (by bike, 65km, 40mi) to Parika (45 min. by boat) to Meten Meer Zong (10 km, 6 mi)
Points of interest: Guyanese Heritage Museum, Sugar Factory
Bikes and bikers board a speedboat The section from Charity to Supenaam is back tracking but not boring.  The collage of rice fields, houses on stilts, canals, churches, temples, business and Guyana's beautiful variety of people would keep it interesting for at least a dozen more trips.  Once back to the Essequibo River the bikes and bikers board a speedboat for one last crossing of the River.
Guyanese Heritage Museum Gary, the owner and curator of the Guyanese Heritage Museum explains various aspects of the extensive exhibit (historic maps, prints, books, coins, stamps, bottles, jars and a vast array of assorted items.  The museum is small and compact, but easily worth an hour or two of perusing for the casual visitor -- and if you really have an interest in Guyana you will want to spend several times this much time there.
